The BEST hummingbird feeder! August 19, 2007 Sara Ann (The Missouri Ozarks) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
This style of feeder is the easiest to clean, fill, clean, enjoy, and....did I mention CLEAN?? Through the years, I have tried nearly every style of hummingbird feeder, and though some may be more attractive, if you have several feeders to maintain, convenience is important! Plop these into hot soapy water. You can get your sponge inside the whole feeder, and within all of 60 seconds, it is clean, rinsed and ready to fill. (Tip: despite warnings, you CAN use a little bleach with hot water to clean the black mildew around the feeder ports. Just rinse well and allow to air dry.) For those of you who think this feeder is too large for your needs......you don't have to completely fill it! But with the six feeding ports, you will probably find that this feeder attracts many more hummers. Get one and enjoy!!
Grand Master Hummingbird Feeder July 15, 2007 Vic & Carla (Ramona, CA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
We have 4 of these feeders for 4 years now and I would highly recommend this feeder. The flowers snap in and then are turned to lock in the base. I chose the 48 oz feeder as we have lots of hummingbirds and I can get by 2 days before re-filling them.
Great Hummingbird Feeder May 31, 2008 Victoria Patton (The Show Me State) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is my second Grand Master feeder (the first was broken by a raccoon). These hold lots of sugar water, are easy to clean and fill. The hummingbirds love it and the design works for Orioles and woodpeckers (yes, woodpeckers!) too as long as you do not use the yellow bee guards. I would have taken away half a star if I could due to the flimsiness of the perches - they are easily broken by squirrels trying to get a drink. Overall it is a good choice for those with lots of birds to feed.
best feeder I've ever had, and I've had a lot!! July 23, 2009 Carol Reese 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was bewildered reading that anyone has had a negative experience with this feeder, because mine have all been A+. It's a snap to clean since you can get your whole hand in it, and I mix my solution right in the cylinder, so no need to dirty a pitcher or funnel. Mine have never leaked, can't help but wonder if leaking had to do with the skills of the person putting it together?
As far as someone's suggestion that it be made of glass, therefore more durable, well, have you ever dropped a glass feeder on your concrete steps? I have! Plus, I don't think you could get the cylinder to lock into the feeder housing if it were made of glass, the same way that this plastic cylinder does, which is so well engineered (in my opinion).
It is a little difficult to pop in the flower ports, wonder if they could be made to lock on like the cylinder? The bee guards work well for me.
I love these feeders, own NINE of them, and have given all my others away!
Good feeder but requires repair - REVISED REVIEW September 5, 2008 Donna J. Lucas (Sacramento, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Perky Pet 220 is one of the better large hummingbird feeders. It is well made and should last for many years. The top screws onto the center container so will hold up over time. It's fairly easy to keep clean. The center holder is very easily washed. The bottom portion will require periodic bleach spraying or soaking to prevent fungus growth. Two of my three feeders have developed leaks in the base after several months of usage. I've had to put silicon sealer surrounding the six ribs around the perimeter of the bottom of the base to eliminate the leaking. (Put base only on paper towels, fill with water to cover the bottom but below the feeding holes to determine leakage.) It's a good feeder but repairs may be required. If I could, I'd change my rating to four stars rather than five. Also another reviewer said the flowers don't stay in. I found that you need to snap into place and then turn to secure them. They probably should provide some instructions. I don't regret the purchase but they did require repair.
